Position and focus
Seated (chair) · Finger flexors (palm side of the forearm) and fingers
A self-stretch for the finger flexors (palm side of the forearm) and fingers. Support your body and stay within a comfortable range.
Starting position
Sit on a chair and reach the right arm forwards with the palm up. Place the fingers of the left hand on the pads of the right fingers.
Movement phases
1. Reach the arm forwards
Keep the shoulder down and straighten the elbow.
2. Bend the fingers back
With the left hand, slowly bend the right fingers back towards the back of the hand. Only bend the wrist back a little.
3. Hold the stretch
Stop where you feel a gentle stretch at the base of the fingers or the inside of the forearm.
4. Release the fingers
Let go with the left hand and straighten the fingers.
What to check yourself
Check that you are not bending one finger joint back hard and that the elbow stays straight.
Caution
Stop if you feel sharp pain, numbness, dizziness, shortness of breath or anxiety. If you are receiving treatment, recovering from surgery or pregnant, check with your healthcare professional first.
