Position and focus

Seated (chair) · Forearm flexors and wrist

A self-stretch for the forearm flexors and wrist. Support your body and stay within a comfortable range.

Starting position

Sit on a chair and extend one arm forwards with the palm facing up. Support the palm and fingers with the other hand.

Movement phases

1. Reach the arm forwards

Lower your shoulder and straighten the elbow.

2. Bend the wrist back

With the supporting hand, guide the fingers downwards and bend the wrist back towards the back of the hand.

3. Hold the stretch

Stop where you feel a gentle stretch along the inside of the forearm.

4. Return the wrist

Relax your hand and return the wrist to straight.

What to check yourself

Check that you are not pulling hard on the fingertips alone and that the elbow is not bending.

Caution

Stop if you feel sharp pain, numbness, dizziness, shortness of breath or anxiety. If you are receiving treatment, recovering from surgery or pregnant, check with your healthcare professional first.
